Home made play dough!

It’s freezing out on the Nebraska Tundra. So Big Boy B and I are staying in.

so far today, we have made heart shaped sugar cookies, Acai apple sauce, pretzels rolls and now, Boden’s first ever play dough. Blue, of course.

This is a recipe from my mom’s days as a preschool teacher. Enjoy!

Play Dough from Kids Day Out

1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
1 T. Alum
1 T. Oil
3/4 cup water
Food coloring of choice

Mix together dry ingredients.

boil water in microwave. Add oil and food coloring. Add to dry ingredients.

Mix and play.

Store in a zip bag or air tight container.

Boden had fun playing, working on his fine motor skills, identifying shapes and making snakes, accompanied by the “Ssssses” sound.

The dogs enjoyed hanging out by the high chair waiting for pieces to drop.

Anybody know if it’s safe for dogs to eat alum?
